I just read about that on Kotaku. I’ve never actually seen Rick & Morty, guess this is my chance.
Update w/ review : I guess, given my lack of familiarity with Rick, Morty, s amurai movies, and parodies of samurai movies, I’m not the target audience.

Yeah, it would really help if you start watching season 1 first. For me, it wasn't until episode 4 before it clicked for me, but most folks are good to go after episode 1.

Now that I see it has two of my favorite actors, Chris Parnell and Sarah Chalke, I’ll have to check it out, if any of my streaming services have it.

Yeah start with season 1. It’s awesome. This is a special, has nothing to do with samurai. It’s like back to the future on crack.

Looks like an homage to “Lone Wolf and Cub”, a samurai movie series that was even more ridiculous than this short. The swords popping out of the carrier is directly from the series which has a lone samurai traveling/protecting an infant/small child with a stroller that has hidden weapons (eventually). All the deaths are at least as gory and the series is not bad (it’s definitely not high-brow Kurosawa type stuff, but deeper than much of the contemporary westerns).

Not until now, lol. I don’t usually pay any attention to them.
